When it comes to SEO link strategies, there are 2 options. You can do it yourself or pay someone else to do it. If you enjoy tedious work then you might want to build your backlinks manually by yourself. There is software that will help with the process but it is still pretty tedious. I know because I have done if myself.
The second option is to pay a reputable and affordable SEO firm to do it for you. This makes any backlink strategy easier but does cost money.
You must choose a reputable SEO firm that will provide TOP QUALITY services. Do not choose the cheapest. You will regret it.
I found some that are very good and have used them for years. When I want to get serious and rank my websites, I stick with the best.
Contextual linking is by far the most powerful back links today. Forget about forum profile links, forum signature links, blog comments, and other spam links. They don't work.

I have some experience with SEO firms and link services unfortunately most of them were bad. I used to choose whoever gave me the lowest price at one of the webmaster forums like digitalpoint.com. I regreted it too.
After buying many directory link submissions over a two year period with little or no positive effect on my blogs, I decided to find a good SEO service. I tried 4 or 5 and did not like them either. Some are really expensive and others didn't respond to my emails. I searched some of the webmaster forums for recommendations but only found ones that the user was an affiliate for.
I finally found one that was mentioned in a forum. I did a search on the name to see if there were any flames out there. None. I did find a few positive comments on them.
I then decided to give them a try and see what happens. They responded to several questions prompty and their pricing was very reasonable.
I ordered a directory submission service form them and was very pleased with the results. I could see traffic grow along with PageRank. I also saw my backlinks increase over time. This seemed like a good SEO firm to me.
I have been using the same SEO firm since then with great satisfaction.

Directory Submission Service
Directories are one of the best places to start when building backlinks to your website. They are easy to get approved, send traffic and increase PR and link popularity. There are a lot of high PR directories also. There are over 8,000 directories including free and paid. There are new directories everyday.
If you have a new website, build links slowly. DO not add 1,000 links in one day. The search engines will penalize you for this and may even de-index your website. So don't do this! I recommend you let your website age before adding any backlinks. This looks natural in the eyes of the search engines. After a few months, you can start to build your backlinks slowly. Try 50 - 100 backlinks per month.
SubitEdge has many directory submission packages. They offer smaller ones for new websites and larger ones for mature websites. The directory submission packages start with 100 directories and go all the way up to 5,000. Their prices are very good too.

Another great source of SEO backlinks is Article Directories. You can gain 2-3 links per article per directory. There are over 800 article directories that I know of.
Article directories also have high PageRank, good traffic and are fairly easy to get articles approved. You can get some good traffic from article directories also.
SEO firms offer 7 article directory packages which include the writing of the article. They also rewrite the article for every 100 directories so not all of the articles are exactly alike. This is great!
They have article directory submission services from 100 article directories to 1,000 article directories. These packages could give you a huge number of good backlinks. Up to 3,000 backlinks.
They can get the article approved quickly since they have established user accounts. They also have the experience and expertise to write effective articles and submit them properly.
I like having the "Pros" do SEO linking for me.
Social Bookmarking Submission
Social Bookmarking sites are another good source of backlinks. They also have high PageRank, are easy to get links and have lots of traffic. The traffic is not high quality but it is better than no traffic. There are over 200 good social bookmarking sites.
SEO firms offer 4 different social bookmarking submission services. From 100 bookmarks to 1,000 bookmarks. They also offer some staggered submissions to slow down the link building. I have used this service many times. It's very effective.
Social Bookmarking Submission can make a big difference in your traffic and PR.

3/17/10 - This hubpage was #6 for a keyword phrase that is fairly competitive, 1,390,000 competing sites. It is a PR1.

I have tried submitedge as well. They do good work. I think outsourcing your work to someone else is always the best option. Most successful people have more important things to do and can better utilize there time!
Yes I too tried submitedge, but only for the drectory submissions. They id a good job overall, and it was done on time. However this work was only performed a few days ago, so would like to find out when I might see some of my links get indexed.
with your blog having only a 1/10 PR, i'd say you deserve a refund from your SEO company. I can get most of my sites a PR 1 with a few simple SEO strategies for $0.

I have not done any SEO on this hub. It's a PR1 all on it's own.
This hub is now #6 for the keyword phrase "SEO Backlink Services" which has 1,440,000 competing websites. It only has about 67 backlinks too.

I am trying to build backlinks to my site url, any ideas on which service is really the best? I checked out submit edge like the article suggested, but wasn't sure if this would work out well or not...anyone use it to an advantage? My site just creates a playlist maker for youtube, like an ipod for youtube vids. So...I'm not sure what to do about creating backlinks.

Try to get Dmoz, it take time but it's free. Yahoo director quite expensive, it will charge for 300 buck.
Hi, this is one area I also have trouble with. It's at the stage where I am hesitant to fork out the money for building seo links to my sites, because I have been burnt before with so called reputable sites.

About Dmoz - yes it takes a long time, but it's VERY worth it! It also places your link in the Google directory.
About Yahoo - I heard that if you pay for the directory listing, your listing title must be the actual company name (no keyword stuffing). I've heard that once you do that, your listings in the regular Yahoo search change to use the title from the directory. This means possibly losing a LOT of keyword love. If your keywords are in your company name, this could be hugely beneficial to you, otherwise I'd seriously consider it before throwing down $299 a year.

I tried SEO service before but now I do it on my own since budget is tight though will try submitedge next since many I know recommend it to me.
Interesting. I'm not against outsourcing backlinking work. But I'm not in favor of buying backlinks. For me it defeats the purpose of SEO - which is supposed to organic as against the paid Ads.
I do not buy links. All my backlinks are approved by the owner of the websites but are not paid for.

i dont think so. we should do following first before getting backlinks
1) link popularity is must for every website
2) social bookmarking plays key role
3) placing a correct meta tags and keywords
these are only few things to get good traffic before doing backlinks concept. there are many factors also besides these
Great reliable information about articles. I've not began with articles yet, however I will need to (eventually) simply because it is a excellent method to obtain both inbound links and targeted traffic.

This really was a great overview about SEO backlink services. As with everything else in business, not all services are built alike. Some times trial and error are many times the only way to determine if a service is worthy to use long term.
So this gives some good feedback on mostly Submitedge, but does anyone have any other services they have tried or looked into?

Link Building is definitely big news these days! Quite a lot of resources out there...hard work but inevitably worth it. I'm currently doing a link a day to try and up our search ratings.
